Quinta do Bom Despacho

Quinta do Bom Despacho is a certified sustainable destination in Azores. This versatile space for sustainable holidays and events was originally built in the 1700s as a large family home. In 2015 it was re-conceptualized to help fill the current gap in sustainable lodging options in the Azores.
Overlooking the Atlantic and Ponta Delgada, the house’s privileged location offer a unique mix of access and urban infrastructures and the quiet farm setting.

Located very close to the centre of São Miguel’s capital Ponta Delgada, this charming estate offers 8 bedrooms. Rooms (twin, double, triple or family sized) can be combined into different configurations for a larger family or group. The decor includes recycled or vintage furniture.
The house also has four living rooms, two dining areas, two self catering kitchens and several foyers and hallways.

The outdoors facilities feature a unique natural swimming pool, a chill out hangout and outbuildings that can be rented for events. The extensive gardens include a sensory garden, an Azorean species border, an organic vegetable garden and orchard. There is also a greenhouse, composting facilities, edible forest and an historic orange grove.

Quinta do Bom Despacho is certified to GOLD level by the Green Growth 2050 Global Standard. In 2017 they achieved a compliance score of 93.78% – one of the highest in the world! They comply with over 400 criteria that speak for their responsibility in economic, environmental and social spheres. This makes them an international reference in sustainable lodging.
