Quinta do Arneiro is a farm with a restaurant, a grocery shop and an academy!
Located in the western region of Portugal, well known for its agricultural production, Quinta do Arneiro begun the conversion to organic farming in 2007. Having started with just 1 hectare , they now have 11 hectares of certified organic production, as well as two greenhouses.
Products harvested in the farm are sold in their grocery store, through home delivery and on organic markets in Lisbon and Cascais.
In 2016 the farm opened its doors to the public, welcoming visitors in the restaurant, grocery shop and academy. Thus, it’s now possible to taste the locally produced vegetables, purchase organic products and participate in courses.
The restaurant – Restaurante da Quinta – only uses organic ingredients and the vegetables are the stars of the dishes. The menu changes every day, making the most of the seasonal produce.
The Academy was born of the will to change habits, to share, teach and learn. Workshops and courses are held on various topics, concerning sustainability, food, health and good agricultural practices.
How to cook vegetables, recognise and use herbs, how to make a vegetable garden are just some of the themes.
But the pedagogical function does not stop here. The farm hosts groups and schools visits, taking particular pride in the way they have led children to try raw vegetables for the first time, and encouraged families to eat organic and change their eating habits.
