Quinta do Vale da Lama
Quinta do Vale da Lama is an eco resort with 9 rooms – single, double/twin & family (3 to 5 people). All the rooms have private bathroom, a mezzanine and a small porch with direct access to gardens and pool. There is no TV, telephone or Wi-Fi in the rooms, so that guests can enjoy the surrounding silence and tranquillity.
The restaurant – Sweet Spot Cafe – serves healthy Mediterranean flavoured meals which can be traced from farm to fork. Meals are served as an organic vegetarian buffet prepared with whole and seasonal ingredients. Many vegetables, fruits and herbs come from the gardens or are purchased in tune with Casa’s ethics from local producers or other ethical suppliers.
The sustainability measures adopted by Quinta do Vale da Lama are everywhere: eco-friendly toiletries and cleaning products; room temperature and water heating are regulated by solar energy (combined with biomass combustion and/or natural gas in cold days of insufficient solar radiation); electricity is partly generated by photovoltaic panels; water treatment is done by plants through a local septic system, and the whole building captures all rainwater to reuse in irrigation.
Based on the principles of permaculture, the farm’s design process that has been creating a more resilient landscape, and growing vegetables and fruit.
The 43 hectares farm offers the possibility of involvement in farm activities for all ages. You can participate in harvesting and processing products that will be stored for Winter or available for sale in the Farm Shop.
Throughout the year there are retreats, events, courses, workshops and craft activities that aim to empower an intergenerational public in building a more independent and abundant future.
